Also known as 'verdelite', green tourmaline is one of the popular varieties of tourmalines 
which are crystals of alumimium boron silicate of complex composition which can also change. Slight changes in the mineral composition can cause a big difference in colour. The stone was afvourite amongst the Egyptians while the name comes from the Sinhalese words 'tura mali' which menas mixed-colour stones.
